The AARP Health Screening Program provides blood pressure and glucose screening beginning in November from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Lemon Lime room. These screenings will be performed by Hawthorne EMTs. Our hope is that by including the EMTs in our program, residents will develop a rapport with them and feel comfortable calling for assistance when needed.
The screenings take place starting the third Wednesday in January and continue each month through April.
We hope to be able to provide hearing and vision screening starting in January also. To date we have arranged to have Connect Hearing, Inc. in January and are still working on a source for vision screening. Walmart is hopeful that they will be able to be a part of the program but is not able to commit at this time due to a shortage of help.
A Hawthorne resident, Mary Enright, has agreed to laminate healthcare cards for those interested.
Each person taking part in the screening will be given a card on which they can track their screening results. We are hoping that many of you will take part in this program.
Any questions, please feel free to call Carol Byrnes.
